What did music sound like in the Middle Ages? How does it make people feel today? The Medieval London Music Festival invites audiences to rediscover this remarkable sound world through performances in some of London's oldest and most atmospheric historic buildings.
At the heart of the festival is a simple idea: medieval music in medieval spaces. By bringing historically informed performances into the architectural settings from the period, the festival offers audiences a unique opportunity to experience medieval music in a way that is both authentic and engaging. Each concert combines outstanding musicianship with the beauty and wonder of some of London's oldest historic venues.
Our first year will centre around our principal venue, the magnificent church of St Bartholomew the Great, founded in 1123, with a view to expanding to other medieval sites across the city. The Medieval London Music Festival aims to create memorable and moving cultural experiences that connect Londoners and visitors alike with the city's extraordinary medieval past.
Join us as we uncover sounds, stories, and spaces of medieval London.
