Our ethos and programming

The Medieval London Music Festival is an artist-led organisation, and our programming is shaped by both artistic and practical considerations. We are committed to presenting performances with a focus on serious artistic ambition, thoughtful scholarship, historical performance and imaginative engagement with medieval repertoire.

As a festival centred on medieval music in medieval spaces, we are interested in projects that respond meaningfully to the repertoire, the venue, and the audience experience.

The first year of the festival will be on a modest scale. Our programme currently consists of a small number of carefully curated events each year, which means we are unfortunately unable to accommodate every proposal we admire. Programming decisions often reflect practical constraints as much as artistic merit, and we warmly encourage artists to stay in touch and apply again in future seasons.

Although we ask for proposals to be within the set time period, we maintain an open-door approach to conversations with performers and ensembles, and we are always interested to hear about new projects, research, and artistic ideas, whether or not there is an immediate programming opportunity.
